Web Hosting

Web hosting is defined as a service that allows individuals and organizations to post a web page or a website onto the internet. A web hosting service provider or a web host is a business that offers the services and technologies required for the web page or the website to be reviewed on the internet. Websites are stored or hosted on special computers known as servers.

When the users of internet want to see your website, they must type your domain or website address into their browser. Then their computer will link to your server and via the browser, your web pages will be delivered to them.

Types of Web Hosting

There are different types of services available for web hosting in order to host your website. Prior to signing up for web hosting services, it is important to determine what type of service your website requires, the type of server your business or you need, the kind of services the web host provides, and your budget.

The major options for web hosting available are listed below.

Shared Hosting

To date, shared hosting is the most common option for individuals, small businesses, and even few famous websites. Many websites hosting on a single server(server means computer here) is known as shared hosting. The benefit of utilizing shared hosting is it makes hosting highly cheap due to the shared resources.

Shared hosts can manage websites that run Joomla, WordPress, or others and also make this process quite simple to set up. For a single month, a shared host can handle up to 30,000 visitors which covers most of the websites. If you are getting started with hosting, you must take a look at shared hosting for its performance and value.

Dedicated Hosting

Dedicated hosting contains a single server and it hosts a single website. The benefit of dedicated hosting is that it consists of a dedicated server and due to this the whole computer is focused on providing your website the best possible performance. Dedicated hosting can be a bit expensive when compared with other types of hosting. If your website demands the means to manage a huge amount of traffic(like about one lakh visitors per month), a dedicated IP, or very fast page-load times, then the dedicated hosting is worth the cost.

Website Builders

Website builder services is a kind of service for hosting that caters to beginners who must host a website, but lack the knowledge and technical skills to build one. This type of hosting usually offers you an online browser-based interface in order to build your website, and also to host the website without the need for any additional setup.

Collocated Hosting

You will buy your own server in this hosting and have it hosted at the facilities of a web host. You are responsible for anything related to the server. For this type of hosting service, the major benefit is you have complete control of the web server. You can install any applications or scripts you need.

Domain Strategies

Finding the accurate domain name is a very important step in launching a brand new website. There is a clear connection people make your domain name and your website. When it comes to opting for a domain name, there are mainly two strategies. There are also some other concerns that must be stated as general rules like using a .com, and avoiding trademarks.

Using a .com

Many people probably and still always will presume the .com part of a domain name. There is an inherent trust given to a .com when someone views your results in the search engines. Let us imagine you are searching online and you see mindmajix.com and mindmajix.net, which would you choose to click first?

Avoiding trademarks

Incorporating the trademark of someone or even being close tends to be a highly dangerous domain on the web. Suppose you are designing a review site for Apple, you might get tempted to use something like appleiphonereviews.com but you will be facing legal charges in case your site becomes popular.

Let us now discuss the two domain strategies.

Brandable Domain

A brandable domain name is a unique or clever word that can be stuck in the head of someone or is different to make an impression. For instance, let us say you were building a website about a new video game that you designed. The brandable name that you want to put for this must be as short as possible as it feels soft and it is more likely available for registration.

Generally, you must limit the length your brandable domains to a word. A domain such as hhtk.com may be short but not quite brandable as compared to something such as dstr.com.

Discoverable Domains

A keyword rich domain is what we call the discoverable domain. A great discoverable domain for my previous example of video game would be videogame.com. These kinds of domains are providing you an instant idea of the site content, rank well in the search engines, and are easy to remember. There are downsides to this approach as well. The first one is, purchasing a keyword-rich domain name is quite expensive. Also, these kinds of domains at times feel quite generic and it becomes difficult to market them. Nevertheless, this is not the case every time.
